This program provides for administration, training, record keeping, clerical and supervision for all Buildings and Grounds activities including the following:
- Training and supervision of 17 Buildings and Grounds personnel.
- Documentation and reports for City Council, public works director, and city manager
- Management of computerized data base for city wide tree inventory, work order system, and daily worksheets
- Contract administration such as janitors, electrical, plumbers, tree contractors, and HAVC systems. We administer approximately $235,700 a year of contract labor
- Assures compliance with mandated OSHA, EPA, ADA, and Dept. of Toxic Substances
- Program budgeting, payment, and analysis
- Assessment engineering for Landscape and Lighting District
- Plan check and review of landscape, buildings and horticultural services as required by the Public Works Department
- Project Manager for city park and landscape projects
- Public information and complaint resolution
- Expert witness for the city as needed for legal matters
- Administration of water conservation ordinance
- Administration of tree ordinance
- Pest control advisor for city as required by the Dept. of Pesticide Regulations
- Staffing to the Park and Recreation Commission and the Tree and Landscape Review Board
- Landscape and irrigation review and inspection
- Emergency preparedness and training for employees
- Public works safety officer
- Grant administration, research, and application. In the past year we have been successful in obtaining over $450,000 of grant monies
- Administration of work furlough program. This is about 10,400 hours a year of labor from our court system
