Welcome to the Union City Police Department! It gives me great pleasure to announce that this website could not have been possible without the hard work of our recently formed Police Volunteer program.
The Union City Police Department is proud of the quality of service we provide to our community. Our members are hard working professionals dedicated to keeping Union City a safe place to live, work, and raise a family. We accomplish this with our firm commitment to the philosophy of community oriented policing . This philosophy means we work with the community in identifying and solving problems in order to improve the quality of life for our citizens.
The Union City Police Department began in
1966 with twelve police officers and one secretary. Today, we
have 76 police officers supported by over 40 full-time and part-time
non-sworn professional staff. We are a full service police department
providing the following services and programs: Patrol,
Task Force, Narcotics
Task Force, Community
and Training, Dispatch/Records
Unit, Property Unit, and Animal
Control Services . Also, our police Volunteer
program now allows us to provide additional services to our
community, such as this website and much more!
I am proud of the Union City Police Department and all of its members. The demands on law enforcement today are greater than ever before. Last year we responded to over 79,000 calls for service while proudly serving a culturally diverse community with a population of 70,200.
Please take a few minutes and browse through our website and learn more about your police department and the different programs and services we have to offer.
If you are considering employment with the Union City Police Department, and should you be fortunate enough to become one of our members, let me be the first to welcome you to our family!
