Who we are:
Afternoons with Club Une is an after-school program sponsored by Union City Leisure Services. It is offered at both middle schools in Union City (Alvarado, Cesar Chavez). We offer a number of different activities for the students, such as tutoring, cooking, sports, and crafts.
How it works:
Check In/ Homework Help (2:35 pm- 3:30 pm) During this time students check in and begin any homework that they have. Students can ask any of the staff for help with their homework if they need help. If students do not have any homework that day, they will be given work sheets to enhance their basic English or Math skills.
Enrichment Class (3:30pm – 4:30 pm) We offer enrichment classes that broaden and challenge student’s minds. In the past, we have offered many different classes including Guitar, Dance, Broadway Musicals, Inter-mural Sports Leagues, Street Hockey, and cooking. A student can choose any one of the different classes that are offered for that day. During this time homework help will continue for students that need it.
Extended Stay: (4:30pm – 6:00 pm) Students participate in activities planned for that day like a basketball game, a tournament, making clay jewelry, video games, or just socialize with their friends until they are picked up for the day. Other additional benefits of being part of the all day portion are when students are let out early for minimum days the cost is already included in the fee.
Fees:
You can register your student for Club Une from school dismissal to 4:30 pm or until 6:00pm. Homework help will be offered while students wait to get picked up. Club Une closes at 6:00pm sharp. Don’t be late; there is a $1 a minute late charge. Scholarships are available for families that qualify. For more information on scholarships or government assistance call Marissa Vera at (510) 675-5672.
Snacks: Students can purchase snacks at Club Une. All snacks must be consumed outside of the classroom to preserve cleanliness. Snacks can also be brought from home. We suggest that are non perishable.
Minimum Days:
Afternoons with Club Une offers activities during minimum days. These programs are offered to ALL middle school students. Club Une activities will begin right after school and concludes at 6:00pm. For Club Une participants that are registered on a day that falls on a minimum day there will be no extra charge.
Morning Care: Club Une offers a before school morning care program that is located at the middle schools and runs from 6:45am to 8:30 am. We’ll have great activities for the students to do in a fun and safe environment and help them get off to a great start each morning.
