Union City Climate Protection Task Force

Task Force Mission Statement
“To develop and recommend to the City Council a Climate Action Plan that prioritizes practices and programs that will further our community’s sustainability efforts and assist in reaching Union City’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Goal of 30% below 2005 levels by 2020.”

On October 26, 2010, the City Council approved the Union City Climate Action Plan (CAP)  to reduce city-wide emissions twenty percent below 2005 levels by 2020.  The CAP includes several  measures, within the areas of land use, transportation, building energy, waste, water and green infrastructure, that will need to be implemented to reach the reduction goal.   Implementation of the CAP will require participation from all sectors of the community including residents, businesses and city government. Please check back periodically for information regarding new programs or projects related to implementation of the CAP or join the Going Green in Union City Facebook page.

A very special thank you to all members of the Climate Protection Task Force.

No further task force meetings are scheduled.
